Uttar Pradesh aims to strengthen its position as a significant aviation hub in India, bolstered by its strategic sectoral policies designed to foster growth, connectivity, and infrastructure development within the civil aviation domain. These initiatives are geared towards attracting aviation investors, with a focus on creating a more favourable business environment, enhancing air connectivity, and promoting trade and employment through infrastructural advancements in the state's civil aviation landscape.

Existing Infrastructure :  Uttar Pradesh boasts 7 airports/airstrips, including 5 domestic and 2 international airports.
UDAN Scheme :   Targeting 25 airports under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) to enhance air transport accessibility and affordability. Currently, 6 projects are under progress under RCS phases 1 & 2, with an additional 5 projects identified for RCS Phase 3.
Objectives

  • Create a conducive business environment and provide adequate incentives for the development of robust civil aviation infrastructure.
  • Improve the air connectivity through/development of new routes under RCS by providing incentives and also to facilitate inter-connectivity of non-RCS airports of the State.
  • Facilitate trade and generate employment opportunities.
  • Provide support for development of air cargo hubs and fulfilment centres in the State.
  • Facilitate the growth of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities in the state.

Passenger & Freight Growth :  Steady increase in movement facilitated by government schemes viz. UDAN, liberal FDI regime allowing up to 100% foreign direct investment.

  • Security arrangements and airport parking /night halts at RCS airports managed by State govt. without any fee or charge initially for 3 years.
  • Reimbursement of S-GST on sale of air tickets @ 100% reimbursement for 3 years for RCS flights.
  • Viability Gap Funding at State’s share of 20% on VGF seats under RCS.
  • Electricity duty exemption : Will be made available by the State Government at concessional rate (Rate of subsidy will be Rs 4/Unit upto 30000 units per month).
